1. Do we need to boil milk before consumption?

Yes. Our milk is fresh and raw, delivered to you within hours of milking. Our process of filtering, chilling & bottling the milk and our cold chain delivery ensures that the freshness of milk is retained till it is delivered, without giving any high heat-treatment such as pasteurization. Hence please boil the milk immediately after receipt.

2. After receiving milk how long can it stay fresh for our consumption?

Temperature is very critical in maintaining the quality of milk. If you can keep milk at or below 40 C, it will not change its flavor for 2-3 days though some change may occur if it catches others in-air flavors from the fridge.

We recommend that you boil the milk first and then store it in your refrigerator at 40 C (preferably in the main compartment and not the door as door region gets lesser cooling) to increase the shelf life of milk.

3. Why does milk have to be preserved at 4ºC?

Proper refrigeration is the most important factor in preserving the freshness of milk. Bacteria grows rapidly in milk above 8ºC, and may cause harmful illness. It is thus extremely important to have strict quality control processes that ensure milk is maintained at 4-8ºC. Thus we chill the milk immediately after milking and make sure that it remains chilled till it reaches your home and we recommend that you keep it at that temperature when stored for consumption.

4. Do I need to give prior information incase I do not want to receive milk?

Yes please! A lot of resources are spent in chilling, packing & delivery of milk to your home. The bottle is specially packed for you and if you do not receive milk, it’s a waste for us. Hence we request you to inform by atleast previous day evening incase you do not wish to receive milk.

5. How do I start/stop milk delivery or change quantity?

Its easy, just get the change noted at our customer care center 9818010888 through SMS or Call before 5 PM of the previous evening. Please note that due to operational constraints it will not be possible for us to accommodate change requests after 5 PM and the next delivery shall remain unchanged.

6. Why do I need to rinse the bottle after emptying them?

It is a good policy to rinse the bottle after emptying it. These pre-rinsed bottles take lesser water and energy to get cleaned & sanitized completely than the ones that are not rinsed. At our packaging plant we doubly ensure that all types of bottles are thoroughly cleaned and sterilized on our customized cleaning equipment. But rinsing at your end saves precious natural resources.

7. How Do I make great tasting thick CURD from Wise Cow Milk?

Here’s the Expert’s Recipe: Our milking hygiene & sanitation practices ensure that Wise Cow Milk is low in bacterial count. Curd setting is a bacterial process hence the best way to make good quality Curd from it is as follows: After boiling milk, let it cool to a temp of 37 Degree- 40 Degree C (just scorching hot for finger). Add starter culture (jaman) 2 Tbs (30ml) in 1 lit of milk & preferably keep it in casserole so that its temperature is maintained. Transfer it to fridge for immediate cooling as soon as curd is set in 3-4 hrs. Your sweet Wise Cow Curd is ready.

8. Why do I sometimes see change in Taste / Thickness / Consistency of milk?

Occasionally you may note small changes in thickness, taste or consistency of milk. This is absolutely natural for raw milk. Following factors affect the composition (FAT & Protein %age) of Cow Milk:

  • Seasonal changes in green fodder and cattle-feed,
  • Introducing new cows in herd,
  • Lactation stage of a cow
  • Monthly heat cycle etc

We do not use any artificial methods like adding milk powder etc to preserve its quality / taste that is done by other companies that pasteurize milk. So be assured that the milk you get is completely Pure and Natural.

9. Can I store Milk bottles in the freezer?

No. Our Milk Bottles are made of Glass. As milk freezes, it expands and thus the glass bottle breaks. Hence do not attempt it.

10. The bottle I got had a creamy layer on top, what does that mean?

It called The Cream Line and it’s the floating fat in the milk. We recommend shaking our milk before drinking for full nutritional value and flavor. However you could use this Creamline for other great purposes in kitchen, like to use as topping for coffee, ice-cream or desserts.
